Dog Leash Pulling

Dog pulling leash is a common problem faced by many walkers in their dog walking job. However, if you are able to control the dog, you earn a good reputation on the job and also become a trainer subsequently. To stop a dog pulling leash, you should take care of the following dog walking steps.

Take a daily walk. Do not run or speed up. Those moves are signals for your dog to pull. If your dog pulls, stand still while grabbing the leash tightly without pulling your dog back towards yourself. Pulling dog while it is pulling the leash can be dangerous for dogs as it may hurt or break its neck.

Once your dog looks back at you, praise it, then continue with your walk as normal. Reward your dog with a treat every three or four such episodes. This compliance enforcement process is known as “yielding to the leash”. However this method is not suitable for long walk because it wears out or bores your dog.

It should take a about a month practice and then your dog should stop pulling leash while walking.

Why does this method work? Simple! Dog pulls to force you speed up. But instead, you stop. Your dog will learn very quickly that you are the boss and you controls when, what and how. The technique should be used to cure a hyperactive dog while you are dog walking and sitting at a dog walking assignment.
